Invitation: PROSPER Workshop & Public Panel on EU Fiscal and Economic Governance

On June 14, 2025, the Jean Monnet Network PROSPER and the Jean Monnet Chair in Democratic and Effective Governance (DEG) at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, led by Prof. Dr. Eva G. Heidbreder, will host a full-day academic event focusing on current debates and reforms in EU fiscal and economic governance.
The event consists of two parts:
A research workshop open to interested students and scholars
A public panel discussion as part of the Long Night of the Sciences
Academic Workshop:
"Constitutional Demands and Dynamics in EU Fiscal and Economic Governance"
Time: 13:15–16:45
Location: Faculty of Humanities, Building 40, OVGU
This academic workshop brings together international researchers from law, political science, and economics to explore new perspectives on the EU’s fiscal governance framework. Two interdisciplinary panels will discuss the constitutional dimensions and political dynamics of debt, recovery, and budget policies in the EU.
The workshop is open to interested students and early career researchers.

This interactive discussion will explore the EU’s financial strategies in response to global challenges, including climate change, security, and social transformation.
