Reminder Long Night of Science
On Saturday, 14 June 2025, Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg is inviting all interested students and guests to a day-long event exploring the future of EU fiscal and economic governance. The event is being held as part of the Jean Monnet Network PROSPER and the Long Night of Science.
The day will begin with an academic workshop entitled 'Constitutional Demands and Dynamics in EU Fiscal and Economic Governance', taking place from 13:15 to 16:45 in Room 332, Building 40. Scholars from around the world specialising in law, political science, and economics will discuss urgent issues and potential reforms concerning debt management, social investment, and the future of the Stability and Growth Pact. The workshop is open to students and early career researchers. Registration is required via the following link: https://cloud.ovgu.de/apps/polls/s/TzIdCSIK.
In the evening, a public panel discussion titled “Global Challenges for the EU – How Should We Pay for It?” will be held at 18:30 in Lecture Hall 6, Building 44 (Zschokkestraße 32). Prof. Dr. Eva Heidbreder (Jean Monnet Chair, OVGU) and Dr. Tiziano Zgaga (University of Konstanz) will discuss how the EU can remain financially capable in the face of growing demands, from climate policy to infrastructure and social justice. This event is part of the Long Night of the Sciences and is open to the public without prior registration. Those wishing to join online can access a livestream by registering via email at
