"Europe up to date: The EU before the elections"
Lecture as part of the training program of the state of Saxony-Anhalt
On September 26, 2023, Prof. Dr. Eva Heidbreder and Dr. Johannes Gerken gave the kick-off lecture for the multi-module training series "Europe and International Affairs" for executives of the state of Saxony-Anhalt at the Magdeburg State Chancellery. Integrated into the activities of the "Jean Monnet Chair for Interactive Multi-level Democracy in Europe", the lecture and subsequent discussion focused on current challenges facing the European Union in the context of the European elections in June 2024. In addition to current lines of social polarization and division in the EU, the current political mood and politicization trends in the run-up to the European elections and their possible effects on the Union's ability to act after the elections were examined in more detail.
