For 25 years, the WDR Europaforum, an international conference of European politicians and journalists, has been an important discussion forum for all those interested in European politics. This year's conference also brought together speakers from politics, the media and academic circles to discuss the future of Europe and to reflect on possible and necessary adjustments to the European strategy.

In addition to attending the event, the audience was also invited to participate in the discussion and so a European Studies student was able to ask Chancellor Olaf Scholz a question about the future of Europe and the significance of the turning point we are facing.
You can watch the audiences’ questions and the whole conference here. Questions from the audience are answered during the second hour of the conference.

Students thus had yet another opportunity to engage in dialogue with practitioners and experts, reflecting on the current challenges of global proportions that Europe is facing, while at the same time the EU is affected by the consequences and issues arising from Russia's war in Ukraine.

Professor Dr Eva Heidbreder, Professor of Multilevel Governance in Europe organised the event and accompanied the students to offer them another challenging and rewarding opportunity to engage outside the classroom in a pivotal discussion with politicians and experts on the future of Europe.
