In the coming weeks, students can look forward to further Alumni Talks featuring diverse career paths, as well as additional opportunities, including the Master’s Thesis Workshop and an LSF information session. These events provide valuable opportunities for exchange, orientation, and academic and career planning.

In the most recent European Studies Alumni Talk, Lys Ziebell shared her journey from studying in Magdeburg to working as a Gender Consultant in the project “FEM Power.” She demonstrated how academic interests can evolve over the course of a degree program and how targeted profile-building can translate those interests into a concrete professional perspective.

The Alumni Talks offer students of European Studies at OVGU Magdeburg insights into diverse academic and professional paths after graduation. In an interactive online format, alumni share their experiences, reflect on career decisions, and answer students’ questions.

On 11 November 2025, the information session on applying for a study semester abroad provided a brief overview of the requirements, procedures, deadlines, and the Moveon portal, as well as tips for writing motivation letters. Thank you to all participants!

On 2 December 2025, students took part in a virtual discussion with Ulrich Trautmann from the European Commission. The session covered the key EU institutions and how responsibilities are divided, as well as the Council’s working methods and the use of modern AI tools. During the Q&A session, students asked questions about the challenges of translating across 24 official languages and issues related to the Common Agricultural Policy.
